The focus items are well worth it, you summon higher level pets with more hp. I am not sure that all of the other quests are worth the trouble unless you just enjoy quests.

so according to allakhazam the items summon your pet 5 levels higher maximum lvl spell of lvl 49 so the pet will be max lvl 54 or 55? or am i misunderstanding?

Focus items just make the pet larger and give it more HP. The elemental staffs are what increase pet level.

i also heard that the torch of alna makes the pet con even or yellow.
