Sometimes they seem to respond to forum reuqests or posts about IP exemptions, but the last way you want to approach this is implying it's not tedious or difficult etc.

I don't know how tedious or difficult it is, but seeing I aint the one doing it I think it's counterproductive to make that kind of statement, especially when you are at the whim of the ones doing the work that you are requesting. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Well I have a background in programming and I can assure you it's more than likely a simple input of data, I mean... yes, doing a ton at once would probably tedious, but doing them daily or weekly would probably not be much trouble since youre not investigating 3 months worths of requests all at once.. which is why I don't understand why they'd do it all at once unless theres a specific measure that's in place that requires it to be done that way. But since we've got no information on the actual process, I can only assume based on my experience with server management.

Furthermore it's not like I'm trying to insult or belittle the management here, I'm just stating my perspective. 3 Months is a very long time, and from what everyone else has said, it doesn't seem like it's actually 3 months. If I'm at the "whim" of the ones deciding my fate on the IPs I would hope they would be just and honest with their IP Exemption instead of trying to do something as immature as excluding me for no other reason than my perspective and opinion on how tedious the process is and how long 3 months is for something like this

To be fair not everyone was on a modem back then. I played at a local game center and they had a T1 plus rows of computers, so people did "two-box" two computers next to each other ... although not that often, because (being a communal gaming center) you could usually find a human to run the other box, and of course that was more fun.

OP make sure you provide all the information as required by the guide to applying for IP exemptions. If you think you ever might LAN party with someone, it is a good idea to organise an exemption many, many weeks before you even begin planning the actual party.

It's great fun playing EQ with a couple of buddies in the same room, I just wish I could visit my friends more often!

This seems to be a common trend lately, everybody calling everybody else "brother," I get called this by total strangers in groups and in tunnel transactions. What's the deal?!
Hulk Hogan was having a resurgence circa 2001 so we have to emulate that classic environment before millions AND MILLIONS of hulkamaniacs run wild on you. Brother.

Are they even good though? Populated I mean?
Yes

Processing IP Exemptions suck. They are time consuming, annoying, and never ending. Then add in the fact many of them get busted for boxing within in days of being granted and it might give you an insight into the lack of urgency.

It is the price to pay for a box free-ish server.

I think it's obvious my opinion of boxing has changed in the last couple years. This process and the continuous time consuming struggle to prevent boxing is factored in to my mind-change.

Still seems like a pretty fair price to me: having to plan ahead when an EQ-playing friend visits vs. having to share a server with people who play their entire 6-character party.

It has nothing to do with programming. The actual data entry is easy.

Now if you said you had experience dealing with a huge community of anonymous players, some of whom want to cheat at any opportunity, you might have a better understanding of the process.
