just wanted to say thanks to everyone that came out and participated in this years Halloween event. While last night didn't go 100% perfect, I think it was certainly better than last years, or the year before that, and I think we learned a bunch of things to give you even more fun events in the future. <3

I don't know what (if anything) will happen to the people who won peggy cloaks and already had one. Perhaps they're stuck with an extra in the bank for corpse runs?
I'm stuck with a second peggy cloak on me as a druid.
Insult to injury =(
I petitioned last night, but haven't heard anything back yet.

I'd love to have it updated to another reward though! *crosses fingers*

The event was extended. It looks like it ran for about 7 hours or so. Yes the notice was brief, but there's not a whole lot that could have been done this year. We were coding it and working on it up to the last minute and weren't 100% sure it was gonna be a thing until I posted about it.

We do try to make these events as all-inclusive as possible, can't please everyone.

I do have future events planned that will run multiple days (but have less amazing rewards). If we had this event running for days, it's very easy for someone to make many accounts and effectively farm the event. It's a give and take. If people want great rewards, then we must only have the event active for smallish slices of time.

Here's some feedback from a devoted P1999 late night player:

My wife and I spent the evening giving out Halloween candy to our neighborhood kids. After it was all over, we had supper and watched some TV shows. Eventually, I logged on at 12 midnight Pacific time as I do each night. Within a few minutes we all got a server wide message that the event would be over in 60 minutes.

To be honest, I felt cheated and angry. People in my guild were bragging about getting all kinds of sweet loot during the event. Sadly, I had 60 minutes left to complete the entire event from scratch. A guildie told me it would take at least 3 hours to make it to all the locations without ports, so I didn't even bother trying.

Question:

Why would you put such an arbitrarily short time limit on an event that essentially excludes people who live in non Eastern time zones?

People who play P1999 who live in the Pacific time zones and Oceanic time zones like Hawaii, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia were also unfairly penalized.

Holiday events in other MMORPGs last for days and sometimes weeks. For example, Hallow's End in WoW goes from October 18 to November 1 each year. This gives players who are not hardcore and have a life outside of their MMO, a decent chance to participate and complete the quests. The P1999 Halloween event could have run for at least a full 24 hours if not longer.

I noticed the Halloween event forum post that was made on Sunday Oct 30 stating that the event would begin at 8 PM Eastern time (5 PM Pacific time). Not everyone has the time to read the forums everyday. It would have been nice to have news of this event in the MOTD.

I just do not understand why you make the event last for only 9 hours. What was the thinking behind this decision?

My understanding is these people maybe 2 or 3? Have similar lives and responsibilities to take care of just as you do - also they dont get paid if im not mistaken - some people are just going to not be able to make it, I couldnt either -

Uh, there were 2 bosses at the end?

Is there a thread where I dont have to sift through 18 pages of postgs to find someone who just wrote up what the quest was?

I did all 16 but I saw no bosses, what bosses?
There were 2 bosses, yes. They spawned nearby the fear mongers. If you go over some of what the fear monger said he hinted at more to come. I also dropped some hings in various streamer's streams during it, and there were zone emotes that went out in Lfay and NK as peopel handed things in hinting that there was something coming.

I really enjoyed running through all the zones I've spent so many hours in and seeing other people doing the same.
One thing I could see improved is not using the same keyword for each npc,. maybe each npc could have had a riddle to figure out.
Loved the event was a ton of fun. I would love to see more events on p99.
Great job staff and those who took time to make this possible!!

The fight against the manifestation was pretty cool. Lots of corpses, fitting for halloween!
(I know this isn't the best picture but I forgot to take more screenshots. There was over 200 people in NK!~

Braknar...

What was the word command for the 'fear caller' in Feerrott/Plane Of Fear?

As I posted earlier that I finished the first 12 names on the list and I went over to talk to this guy and he wouldn't answer me or the four other players trying to get him to talk? The most I could do is just hail him, with a answer of "Hmm, what do you want?"

I cut and pasted part of my log file to show you what I typed. I edited it and took out anything not related to the event.

[Tue Nov 01 00:41:31 2016] Targeted (NPC): a fear caller
[Tue Nov 01 00:41:31 2016] Right click on the NPC to consider him.
[Tue Nov 01 00:41:32 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:41:32 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:44:51 2016] You say, 'ripped page'
[Tue Nov 01 00:44:55 2016] You say, 'page'
[Tue Nov 01 00:44:58 2016] You say, 'task'
[Tue Nov 01 00:45:32 2016] You say out of character, 'anyone know what to say to 'a fear caller' for the location of final 4?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:41 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:41 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:44 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:45 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:45 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:45 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:46 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:46 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:46 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:46 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:47 2016] You say, 'Hail, a fear caller'
[Tue Nov 01 00:47:47 2016] a fear caller says, 'Hmm... what do you want?'
[Tue Nov 01 00:48:18 2016] You say, 'I want the page'
[Tue Nov 01 00:48:26 2016] You say, 'I want the list'

I spent over an hour on this and talking to a lot of people and it appeared as the 'fear caller' would talk to some players but not others.
