but pure eq is dead. has been for years. Phiny is decent, p99 is decent, hell, even eq2 was alright for a while.

But everything is a compromise now. p99 is a compromise, phinny is a compromise. i will say, imho phinny seems a hella lot better than fippy, the last live server dabbled in.

At this point, it is about, are these compromises fun?

We play this game for the nostalgia. It's impossible to recreate pure EQ for so many reasons thatve been stated across the boards. In summary, it's 2016, we all have 20-200+ Mbps, all data and all quests are documented, were no longer 14, etc. I don't play on Phinny, but the compromise looks pretty damn fun, and I like to hear about it. Eq progression is fun, socking and competition is fun for a period of time then it just becomes stressful and tiresome. Instancing looks like it's been a great addition.
