We started the first week EQ came out, as high elves in Felwithe. By the time we were 15 or so, my wife and I decided to see if we could make it to Qeynos. Back then the boats were crashing all the time, so everyone rode the boats naked, because god forbid we lose our killer dwarven tunics and shiny brass shields from CB. Of course the boat crashed zoning from LFay to OoT, somehow we ended up on the LFay side and our friend Banyan ended up on the OoT side. We drowned and had to petition a GM, who pulled us back to Kaladim.

Banyan, our enterprising enchanter friend, swam to one of those little islands in OoT, grabbed a canoe, and set out for Freeport. No kidding, he paddled the whole way there. We managed to catch another boat that didn't crash, and I think we actually arrived before he did.

What followed was similar to the original tale, binding in Freeport and spending many hours running, including running through Kithicor at night while screaming like 11 year old girls, stopping in Rivervale because we could kill this little Nillipus guy who dropped like one whole pp, spending hours in Highold getting the Shiny Brass Halberd, then making our way to Qeynos, anyone casting SOW? When we finally got there, man had we had cool adventures along the way and it definitely felt like we had crossed a continent and were way, way far from home- this was before anyone was big enough to port. Or at least anyone you could find.

Then off to Everfrost and Permafrost, wow all that was fun.

I can't recall. I am almost sure it was a paper map. The box I bought included the main, original game along with the first expansion of Kunark. Well, its also been 11 years so who knows. I may have to go through the boxes in the basement and see if I can find my old stuff.

Happy Hunting

I just went through my old computer game box. Kunark map was cloth, and Velious, Luclin and PoP maps were glossy paper.
