If they gave out the source / DB, Sony would get it and be able to fix the boats on live. That alone should be reason enough not to do it...
But seriously, these guys have poured 3 years of their lives into this and made this insanely cool thing that we all get to use for free. If I was them, giving away that code / DB would be the last thing I would do. Admittedly, it would be useless to me personally since I do not know C++ from shinola. But I have to admit that I always wondered how many transactions per second the DB for Everquest was enduring when you had 800 people online...
