old world newbie zones : Steamfont Mountains and Butcherblock were so nifty 1-10.. great spread of mobs and different types to kill.
In BB you had basilisks. .goblins, skellies.. chessboard, peg leg, aqua goblins.. In Steamfont you had newbie areas.. Windmills with pumas and higher undead... undead camps everywhere. kobold camps for humanoid loot.. mino caves!.. area in front of mino caves to get you to level 10+.. Just well thought out and designed zones all over.. very dynamic. Favorite classic XP area was Cazic Thule. Always broke my heart it was never quite right on this server with the crazy Zaxis mob healing and pathing. Should have been a mad rush for rubicite instead of level 50 rogues and mages and shamans backtracking to it. Some of my fondest memories on live was XPing in Cazic with my portable baking spit, making lizard-on-a-stick as fresh as possible. Lower guk (both sides) was a shining example of what EQ classic could have been like had anyone had the foresight EQ would be the hit it was and actually had the high-end content to support the early end game. Which brings us to kunark... Which they were prepared for.. It's when EQ got really open-ended.. Overthere.. Skyfire.. Traks Teeth, Burning Woods. Dreads. Outdoor zones all over. Dungeon crawls in Karnors, Seb, HS, Chardok, Droga, Nurga, CoM, Kurns, etc. Epic encounters.. Outdoor dragons. There was literally always something going on and something to do. My favorite part about kunark was all of it, really. It recaptured that "newness" magic of racing for that first backpack and cracked staff on day one of launch. It's going to be fun.
