The best advice I can give you is:

1) Play what you want to play. Maybe you get the ranger to 30 and it doesn't line up with what you thought it'd be, or maybe you love it and get to 60. Either way, as long as you're having fun it don't matter. Ranger is a good class now without the Exp penalty and shouldn't be as scorned as before, but...

2) Get into a leveling guild. Pick up groups can be snobs sometimes, and there's no shortage of twinked monks/rogues on this server. Having a group of buddies or at least players who are familiar with one another make the leveling grind much less painful. Plus you have a cadre of levelers ready to head off the beaten path rather than sitting at a zoneline waiting for a spot to open.

Good luck! Ranger is a really fun class. Once you learn to make use of all your tools, a good ranger brings a lot to a group.

Nope! Get a good bow and go archer stuff to victory!!
Did you level that way pre-velious/xp penalty? Oh my god the sheer amount of arrows to kill a low blue. It's so much easier now with all the cool bows and stuff.

I want to start a Ranger, but I don't want to spend the next 5 years of my life leveling. Any suggestions?
The good news is rangers are rangers from level one, so you don't need to do any levelling at all to play one!
