WoW has an option setting for raids called Personal Loot, after years of dkp, raid attendance, loot councils, cliques, and all the bullshit that goes along with guilds it's pretty refreshing. When you kill the raid mob the game rolls for you whether you get loot or not.
Eventually they will do away with all this human interaction bullshit and give us the solo game we all want...

Typical horseshit alarti. When you left BDA you said we sucked and would never kill a raid mob, so you were leaving to join TMO to raid. What's wrong with telling the truth? There's nothing wrong with what you did. Except talk shit before you left, which is why you are a weasel.
I actually didn't make a guild announcement and only sent a personal tell to Sanluen about how I was joining TMO because I had a lot of old friends there. BDA was a much stronger guild at the time and TMO had no plans to raid. Your assertion is logically unsound.

If you value the truth and see nothing wrong with it k2summit I'd advise you do so.

Loot is the central reason why people join raid guilds. It is rarely the reason they stay -- but it is the whole damn point of raid guild to begin with.

No one would be staring at a wall for hours if there wasn't loot involved.

Altari's point was fundamentally stupid. 10 time out of 10 people that app to raid guilds do so for raid kills and raid items. That's why they join.

10 times out of 10 they leave within 6 mo unless they make connections with people they enjoy hanging out with.
It seem's you have revised your point to completely fit my claim. So you say people join and stay in raid guilds for kills, loot, and personal connections.

Way to defend your claim it's almost like you can say that about anything in life.

My original claim is "people join raid guilds for loot." It stayed pretty consistent. I added in the part about kills -- because that's obviously part of the appeal too.

Your example of yourself leaving a raid guild for a casual guild is beside the point.

Loot was your only initial claim. I agree kills are obviously part of the appeal. So is human interaction and so is the basic mental reward of accomplishing something with someone you interact with. Thank you for adjusting your claim to fit mine.

My example of leaving a guild wasn't inline with your conversation. Do try to follow along

If the alternative is either letting some dbag guild leader council loot, or go the dkp route where the person with the most bed sores on his ass wins, then Ya I'll let the computer roll.

Wrong. Competition (was) very invigorating. Also, having played a wizard here since 2009. Loot wasn't a reason for me to raid... There was like 3 items for a wizard pre-VP and maybe 4 or so in VP. I went years without loot and my DKP can attest to that. I enjoyed initially the challenge of being the underdog and competing against, winning against, and then supplanting a initially stronger force. After I had other goals like helping friends etc. End the end I just like playing with pals and killing dragons. Loot didn't make EQ great... community did.
To me it seems pretty obvious that you confused why people join raid guilds for why people stay in raid guilds in this post. If you want to pretend to other people here that you had the distinction in mind all along -- that's cool. But I think we both no what went down.

People join raid guilds for kills in the same sense that they play Everquest for kills. That's what the game is mostly. After the third time or so -- that's not a good reason to stick around.

Reflecting on this, I think my first post without including the part about kills is actually less misleading.

10/10 people join for loot. It only takes one person to prove you wrong. I did so easily. You then tried to backtrack your statement. It's ok kiddo. Better luck next time
