what alarti is trying to say is that your idea of an accomplishment is killing the mob and getting loot. many others don't think it's an accomplishment to use overwhelming numbers to easily beat a 15 year old elf encounter. at that point, it's a loot vending machine. if you don't care that much about loot, that's not appealing. better to try and possibly fail than to not even try and just death touch the mob with 100 people
Exactly

Loot is the central reason why people join raid guilds. It is rarely the reason they stay -- but it is the whole damn point of raid guild to begin with.

No one would be staring at a wall for hours if there wasn't loot involved.
Wrong. Competition (was) very invigorating. Also, having played a wizard here since 2009. Loot wasn't a reason for me to raid... There was like 3 items for a wizard pre-VP and maybe 4 or so in VP. I went years without loot and my DKP can attest to that. I enjoyed initially the challenge of being the underdog and competing against, winning against, and then supplanting a initially stronger force. After I had other goals like helping friends etc. End the end I just like playing with pals and killing dragons. Loot didn't make EQ great... community did.

Everyone has their own ideas of what raiding is. ATeam had their way other guilds have their own. I'm sure if accomplishing something with small numbers was a goal of Cecily she wouldnt have joined Awakened would she? I'm done talking about raiding though. Its the whole reason i quit this game to begin with. 15 years of loving this game to have it destroyed by the way raiding occurs on this server. Only nice thing about it was that it finally opened my eyes to other games out there other then just EQ. For that i guess i am grateful to cesspool that is raiding on p99.
Why are you trying to think for Cecily? I've known Cecily for years her major concerns weren't loot related ever.

Raiding was ruined by raid rules. Or the lack of instancing.

This isn't about loot, Thulack. It's about be able to take pride in being a part of your guild. I've never killed the AoW before. And my first kill could have been my new guild dropping it by themselves or failing on their own. That would have been fun either way. Instead I got a 4 guild 3k dps overkill 140 player zerg to make it a sure thing. How much pride do you think I felt that day?
Confirmed.

No Y chromosome I'd assume.

Best AoW fight I've been a part of wasn't even a kill. First time Rampage engaged him we got him to below 10% iirc, felt really good even though we couldn't seal the deal.

I understand your desire, but unfortunately I think you missed the sweet spot. Now people would rather ally for AoW than risk missing out. Now if you want low number kills you'll just have to wait till a late night pop. Most of the people who were doing Velious for the fun and not for the loot have moved on, so they won't risk low numbers if it can be avoided.

When I left BDA and joined TMO, I was like the 4th or 5th member btw, I was the only level 50 and no other member was above 20. So yes I was after that sweet sweet Upper Guk loot?

Also TMO was a casual guild and had no intentions of raiding competitively.

You pick a guild with capabilities that match your goals. My primary goal in Awakened was the Velious tour. Which I almost completed. Never killed Vulak or Zlandi, but I've seen just about everything else die. After that, had they not failed their application to be my guild, I would have considered staying around longer to get my ranger geared to the teeth, yes. But the leadership is kinda intolerable and keeping my mouth shut for pixels isn't how I'm gonna play this game.

You lasted longer than I did in Awakened, so props for that. I think I lasted like 4 days before I realized their 47 officers and I were never going to see eye to eye on much, so I dipped out to go hang with my broskies Nukehard and Detarrd.

Aftermath has just as many useless officers that do nothing. At the end of the day, it's just who you can tolerate the most.
