I think I've settled on Animist so if you want to jot me down for that I think I'll lock that in. Super tempted to roll a Chanter first for powerlevelling but fuck it, they're so boring.

How long is beta set to last??

Not sure if I am going to go Midgard or Hibernia. Never played Hibernia and don't know jack about their classes, what's a decent melee in that realm? I did fuck around with a Ranger for like 10 levels but that was about it

Cool, either one of those classes will make leveling a breeze. I'll most likely go with a Mentalist to backup the group with heals and mana, or maybe a 2nd Animist! I think last time Uthgard was still running, the shroom pet cap per any one area was at 15, which is still way more than we can make between 2 lowbie/ungeared Animists.

There is no set date, they intend on running the beta as long as needed to iron out any left over bugs. It's like Backman_66 said earlier, the faster players report bugs, the faster beta will be over with. My personal estimation is about 4 months, but knowing the way they did things on that server in the past, it could take up to a year...so we may as well put a P99 group/guild together and get this show on the road!

Check out my last post on page 9 of this thread, for links to class description sites or you can just check the one in my sig. The char builder can show you every single spell and melee ability for all 3 realms, good for planning ahead some.

Tell me which classes you normally enjoy in EQ, and I may be able to suggest something proper like, this goes for everyone!

...and come on IRC guys, it's much easier to talk all this over via a live chat room, it's all text based if you haven't used it before. I'm on there right now with some fella named crith, anyone know who that is on the forum?

OK - so here it is thus far - Total interest from this thread to play Uthgard together: 31

**and if you want to be removed from the list, just PM me or tell me on IRC**

This is basically 4 full groups, if we end up playing all at the same time.

Scrooge - Mentalist or Animist [Hero/Champion alt for meleee group]
Backman_66 - Warden
Millburn - Animist or Enchanter [Bard alt for melee group maybe?]
Weekapaug - Bard or Ranger
Oooruk - Eldritch/Enchanter/Hero/Warden/Champion
Oleris - Eldritch/Enchanter/Mentalist/Animist, Bard?
Spyder73 - Warden or Ranger [might be going to Midgard?]
Missingo - Eldritch [void/mana spec?] or Enchanter
Aalderon Crystafire - Eldritch [void/light?] or Blademaster
Foxxhound - ? (pg5)
Cambiant - ? (pg6)
Goobles - ? (pg6)
Cecily - ? (pg5)
Nirgon - ? (pg5)
Daywolf - ? (pg3)
mrgoochio - ? (pg3)
Zar211 - ? (pg3)
Tewaz - Enchanter or Blademaster or Valewalker (pg3)
Skew - Ranger [maybe BM instead?] (pg2)
Evia - Bard or Ranger (pg2)
Goliathan - ? (pg1)
Beastagoog - ? (pg1)
Rick Sanchez - ? (pg1)
xKoopa - ? (pg1)
Xaanka - ? (pg1)
Swish - ? (pg1)
magician - ? (pg2)
arsenalpow - ?
Sinadin - ?
Fifield - going to Midgard (Shaman with a friend Thane)
Surron - Mid/Thane (Fifield's friend?)

We will need some people to volunteer to be 'Guild Crafters,' I'll try to come up with some kind of system so you won't have to fund it alone, so the guild will help out.
There is a function for Taxes which caps out at 20%, this isn't as horrid as some people make it out to be, but I won't turn it on until we reach some kind of consensus on it.
Eventually we'll also have a Guild House with crafters/merchants and the whole shebang, if Housing will be enabled that is!

I'll be on IRC every time my PC is on from now on, so if anyone needs to get in touch with me or talk about the guild or whatever:
(server: irc.riizon.net, chan: #uthgard, use https://www.mibbit.com if you don't have a client or want to chat on a phone.)

Drop by IRC if you guys really want to get this thing organized before the server goes up in the first week of next month!
It'd be a good idea to download and install the game client in advance, don't wait until the last minute when their servers will be overloaded like crazy.
Use the links in my sig for more details.

P.S. Post your regular play times and time zones so I can see what classes we may have on at what times etc. I'm in the EST and can adjust my schedule depending on majority of guild.

Was interested in crafting. Is there a good overview / guide to crafting somewhere you could link please?

I'm gonna be Nightshade / Animist I think.

Since they're going for an older patch version, it's not that easy to find sites which are still up with the proper info matching that era. I did dig this site up from web.archive.org and it shows guides for crafting as well as a bunch of classes from all 3 Realms.

Crafting Economics 101

Classes of Camelot Guides (from 2005 and earlier)

I'll update your class choices at the next 'roster update' cause it won't let me edit my posts, and I wouldn't recommend making a Nightshade as a first char with no gear...it's alot like if you'd imagine leveling a Rogue on P99 when it just came up in '09, with no money or gear. If you really want to give it a go though, just wait until we start getting leather drops from dungeons or named. An Animist would be great for AOE farming, especially if we have 2 of them in one group; they make these mushroom stationary pets which you can make 2-3 of per pull and automatically nuke anything within range. Be sure to check out the Character Builder if you want to see what spells you can get from which spec, cause there are 3 spec lines and they're all different.

Altwaal's Animist Guide

Also check out the Uthgard forums, and check out some of the links in my sig, I haven't updated them since 2014 but they still hold alot of relevant data. http://www.uthgard.net/forum/index.php

Simply put, Midgard is a prominent melee class realm, Hibernia is all about casters, and Albion is in-between. That's how the game was when it just came out anyway, until the Devs started bending to every whine to "balance the game out."
While it's true that Midgard is focused on melee, Hibernia on casters, and Alb is in between.. each realm does have options for every type of player. For example, Albion has a dual wielding light tank called a Mercenary, Hibernia's equivalent is Blademaster, and Midgard's equivalent is the Berserker. While they each have their own unique abilities, the class functions in pretty much the same way. So even if you roll a char in Hibernia, the "caster-focused" realm, there are still options for people who want to play a melee.
