Either way, 2boxing a trader doesn't really conflict with the objective of the 2boxing rule, and even if it didn't help the economy, it couldn't hurt.

And no that wasn't me. I was doing the polar opposite of this in terms of dual boxing. I got on two boxes to xfer items. Xping like that is unfair and should be banned. Except I got the same ban as this guy did JUST for xferring items.

Anyone who agrees with this ban just hasn't had it happen to them yet. Every person who has an IP exemption, does what I did and xfers items. She was pissed but started playing a diff game. I thought EQ would be perfect to show the ropes of MMO's in general, but oh well we got the bans before she even got to play really. Well at the same house at the same time.

Say If we did decide to come back to EQ when this ban is over, would we be allowed to trade in game on the same IP or is that ban worthy as well? Like say we happen to both get ports back to WC and run to the tunnel. After an xp group or something. Then we decide to trade some items. Am I going to get banned again for doing this?

It doesn't rly specify this in the rules and it needs to be addressed if GMs are throwing out 30 day bans for this shit. I should have my ban lifted too because it isn't clearly outlined. Whats the point of getting an IP exemption if we can't do anything in the same zone together? that's the whole point of me asking for the exemption, so gf and I could play together

OP is clearly in the wrong for breaking rules, but I honestly think allowing people to have a 2box trader in game would not only cause zero detriment to the classic experience, but actually improve the EC experience. Maybe something like limiting it to L1 characters and only in EC, Freeport, Nek, and Neriak. It would get way more people involved in EC trading, increase the availability of gear, and just improve the community overall imo. I'm not going to devote hours to trying to sell a bunch of sub 1k items, but I would if I could do it during downtime in groups or while LFG. I think we'd see a much more healthy and robust economy if players who normally log on to actually play the game could also get involved in the tunnel as opposed to letting tunnel rats control the EC economy.

As I understand it, the no 2boxing rule was originally intended to develop the community, and in that respect I think it is a great rule and has made the server better. However, to most people sitting the the tunnel trading is not really playing, and 2 boxing a trader would for the most part benefit the community, so it seems like an obvious place to make an exception. More people trading, more items available, more accurate prices, it just seems like a net positive with very little (if any) downside.

This guy knows whats up and thank you for that. I'm all for the enforcement of the rules and I applaud the GMs for throwing bans out. On me even though I feel I was totally unworthy of a 30 day fcking ban I still agree for the most part with what they did.

However, with the option not to be able to turn your character into an NPC and go /auction mode what you're saying is such a good idea. Easier access for players to buy their gear and not wait 10 days to find that said person selling your items on p99auctions.com and then hoping they log back into that toon some time in the next year. auctioning in EQ is horrendous and i remember how happy people were when they implemented that patch years ago to allow you to /auctionmode or whatever.
