How many uncontested TOV clears can you do before you get BIS and bored? I mean variance sucks, but competition does keep the content a bit more interesting.

I think the true fact of the matter is that both the red and blue server are terrible for different reasons. However, both of them have a few gameplay benefits as well.
Overall, you're sort of just left with an "okay" game experience I guess when you're looking at the entertainment expectations of a video game that came out in 1999 and had no intention of entertaining players 17 years later. The best the game has to offer is really the leveling up experience up to level 60 and the exploration of zones and content you haven't experienced before. After you've done everything in the game once and explored all of the content, it's more just Skinner's Box that keeps people here so their HP and AC can be a few 100 points higher than it was some hundreds of hours earlier. Some people would argue against this Skinner's Box argument by indicating they are here for the people or relationships, but I've really only met a handful of people that I think are people I would find interesting enough to engage with in real life. I think a lot of people lie to themselves about their relationships with the people here to justify themselves staying here with the game. I hope you can at least tolerate the individuals you are around if you spend thousands of hours with them; I can't imagine being in a large guild and being guaranteed having to spend that much time with at least a few individuals I didn't like very much. Other people say they're here for the competition, but clearly that doesn't really make sense for the red or blue server. On red, I guess competition would just be sparring and griefing each other because it clearly doesn't happen in the high end raid content. On blue, competition is the equivalent of watching paint dry for 16 hours waiting for a timer to randomly go off that tells you to do a lap around the room for 2 minutes. Anyone interested in competition would clearly play a different game than blue if they really loved the thrill of competing. Skinner's Box is the reason these servers still exist and the underlying reason as to why all of you will always argue whether blue or red is better. In the end, it doesn't matter. It's all the same thing.
