ya i was considering buying for a while, but i live in an area where property values have bubbled so even the shittiest dilapidated houses on the smallest lots go for 500k. most tear downs when i was looking at building were at least 500k and they weren't particularly good lots either. same houses that were barely worth 200k 10 years ago. you would have to be retarded to buy a house here unless you were speculatively investing on properties in less developed areas.
plus on a basic level i just don't understand anchoring yourself to 1 spot like that for 25 years unless you're raising kids, which i'm not. i like to travel a lot, and if i'm gone for 3 months it's nice not having to worry about paying a mortgage or having my home get broken into. guess most people just don't live exciting lives.
