Edit: I suppose I should answer your confused question. You ask, " I mean they actually exercise political control over their own government, that's a plus, right?" Yes, ALL governments "exercise political control over their own government" that is what governments do there champ. Did you have another "tautological question" to ask in your effort to look smart? If so, I'll come back in some hours from now and check it out. Peace, dude. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]
You think I'm asking whether their government controls itself? You need to challenge yourself more; if you're going to invent questions for yourself, invent harder ones.

Let's think about that one for a minute.

What would someone mean when they say "they actually exercise political control over their own government." I don't know, the German people maybe? And that's in direct contrast to the United States whose government answers primarily to the wealthy and powerful, and basic political representation has become dangerously meddled by gerrymandering, apathy, cynicism, tribalism, and the buying of politicians.

TL;DR if you still don't get it: Your average German citizen has more political power than your average American citizen.

How do you know this isn't Trump? He has yet to propose any significant policies. In fact, I suspect after Trump and Clinton win their respective primaries Trump will tag Bernie as his VP. It's an obvious win for both of them: Bernie will get his socialist agenda (which probably appeals to Trump anyway) and Trump will win the election in a landslide and see his face on televisions everywhere.

I think you would have had a better argument before Merkel invited a million Syrians into Germany. Europe is a powder keg right now.

Seeing hordes of refugees misbehaving in the streets is shocking and powerful, but have you been in Compton, East LA, or the slums of Baltimore lately? We're not much better off.

I don't know the statistics but I'd bet $50 their violent crime rate won't surpass ours in the next 100 years, even if you include terror attacks.

Merkel betraying Germany on a single issue is a lot different than complete, systemic failure of the US political process.

Far be it from me to defend the US political process, which mostly involves bankers pillaging the country. I just think you are hugely underestimating Europe's problems.

Up until now I've agreed with Trump on most everything. His ideas are brash and bold, but we need to fix our fucked up country. You don't fix fucked up things with sensitivity and coddling.

That said, his stance on this case of Apple vs DoJ and FBI is completely wrong! His position that Apple should be forced to defeat their encryption for the likes of an abusive DoJ and FBI like we have is so fucked. A smart man like Trump should recognize the peril that setting this precedent and inventing this tech would bring about.

I will be considering this a great length before I cast a vote for him for Prez, which until now I was completely on board with doing.

Btw, I hate Apple products and have for years, so I'm not an Apple fanboi.

If the government was run by angels, but it isn't.

Being a sucker and pawn for big brother's power hunger is not patriotic. That's my opinion.
