But seriously, with no hands on experience you won't be impacted too much on the CCNA exam. It helps for sure, but it is mostly testing you on facts. Like you'll get a question that asks what routing protocol has an administrative distance of 90 and give you EIGRP, BGP, OSPF and RIP as choices. In the real world if you didn't know you'd spend 5 seconds googling it.

You'll probably struggle a little more than a more experienced person at the labs, but it is possible you don't get a lab at all or just 1. Or you could get 3. The labs you go in and have to actually configure a simulated router and/or switch. The tasks are really simple but if you've never actually logged into gear and played around before you won't know the exact commands and shit, but usually the help stuff is available.

So in your study spend a little extra time on the lab scenarios and how to recognize which scenario you got if one pops up.

Other thing I will say is watch your time. Some exams you can go back to a previous question (like M$ exams for example), but with Cisco ones once you click next it's done. People taking the CCNA for the first time often run out of time - I think its either 90 minutes or 2 hours for 60-80 questions depending on how many simlets, drag and drops and labs you get.
Write a book about it fgt

Big thing I see now is VMware and storage but unless you're some kind of genius or you have lots of years of IT experience there's no way you are going to land a real job doing any of these things. If you want to go to school or pass an exam to make money I suggest another field.
VMWare and storage are certainly good fields to get into, but there is a lot of push to move to hosted services even for larger companies at this point. You don't even need a guy on staff that knows EMC for example, if you're just purchasing storage from Azure or AWS. There is also a push among cloud providers to provide hosted application services rather than just selling you a virtual machine. You don't need a virtualization guy if you're just paying a monthly fee for an SQL instance in the cloud, for example.

You know what person you need no matter if you're using the cloud or on premise, or if you virtualize or don't? A core network person. Everything still has to connect.

Minneapolis is considered one of the better cities in the country for IT positions. For example, Robert Half Technology rates it as plus modifier for pay (so you make more than average money doing the same job in Minneapolis). There are a lot of huge companies HQ'd there like 3M, Best Buy and Target to name a few.
He is just trying to cover his ass for looking like a dumbass know-nothing that runs his mouth. He isn't worth replying too.

Minneapolis is awesome in general for IT. The unemployment rate is around 4%. It's very competitive market for IT professionals. We have hired guys without much more then a CCNA.

Its Minneapolis. Minneapolis is not on anyones map outside of MN. Thats why the salaries are so great and you don't need to know very much to have a decent wage and low living expenses. If you told me you were NY, LA etc i would praise you. But you just live in a small town that is giving money away to know nothings like you to live there and raise families. I respect that.

MN is a bunch of know-nothings being paid a frontend salary investment to raise a family and contribute to growing the labor force.

It is not considered making it in the IT industry and 65k for a no-nothing is akin to government subsidized jobs.

I wonder what economic incentives the government gives corporations in MN, they probably pay 30k of your no-nothing 65k salary. That must be the MN "No-Nothing Tax".

You don't have any expertise. I would glady listen you talk about the in/out's of your A+ cert all day, or whatever janitor gig you have in New York. You got called out for not knowing anything, and giving RL advise. As all you morons do you use the most common argument fallacy of attacking the speaker. You can't disqualify me by certs, exp, or knowledge level, so let's try location. That's makes zero fucking sense.

Crawl back in your hole, troll.

Just stop posting you make yourself look worse. I can see why people from Minneapolis have a severe inferiority complex about their little town.
