Classically, if you weren't near any objects you could minor illusion to (no torches, chairs, etc), you could drop a coin, cast minor illusion (become the coin), pick up the coin, recast illusion.

The second cast would 'fail', as there was nothing to turn into, breaking the root effect, but you would still have the appearance of the coin.

It was a great way to have noobs chase you / have double invis.

CCP for Eve Online had to add timers to containers floating in space due to the massive amounts of "space art" that floated among the various systems. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

The other tricks against players sounded cute - especially if you were dirt poor and saw a shiny platinum coin lying there ~just~ out of reach. ("Maybe I can grab it from this angle!")

Please tell me that "a gingerbread soother" was not an actual aspect to Live at one point. If it was, then did you get to play Ghostbusters and take on the Staypuff Marshmallow Man as a mob boss???

It's real. They have lots of custom skin mercenaries.

also dropping coin allowed for duping plat whenever they announced a server downtime, went something like step 1, drop you coin on the ground 1 minute before server DT, step 2. friend picks up coin, step 3. you character doesn't do that autosave or w/e before the server goes down. step 4. friend with your coin does something to force a file save. right before DT. then when server went back up you had the coin you dropped and your friend also has the coin you dropped effectively duping the plat... im sure i butchered that and dont have all the details, but i think that was the jist of it

Client does not support it. We used to drop a plat on the ground by a lift in Kelethin, cast invis and stand on the coin and watch new players try to grab the plat. Fun times.

No Coin Dropping after Wednesday...
Submitted by Lenardo on 11/5/2001 10:30:19 AM

Yup that is right fellow monks, due to some nefarious people, after the patch wednesday you can nolonger drop coins, you now have to destroy them....

Hello all,
There are a number of scams out there where nefarious inviduals attempt to get people to perform a series of operations that results in the victim unknowingly dropping their coin on the ground. In order to help our players avoid these scams, we're taking action in the patch on Tuesday. We first considered popping up a confirmation box when attempting to drop coin on the ground, however upon reflection we could not determine a reason why anyone would want to do this, except perhaps when attempting to "self-trade" items and coin between characters. However dropping things on the ground is as you can imagine an extremely unsafe and unsupported way to trade items, and has created more headaches for players and our CS staff than it has done them good.
To that end, beginning on Tuesday the dropping of coinage will no longer be allowed by the client. Players will of course still be able to destroy it if they wish, for instance, to releave themselves of unwanted copper.

We look forward to hearing your comments. If there are any reasons that dropping coinage should be allowed that we haven't thought of, please reply and let us know.

Thanks,
