Suggestions for GM Event Reward for Ninik!

when I was a young mage on the server, I was standing at the docks in BB waiting for a boat.

Someone...don't recall who cast illusion froglok or whatever it's called.

They said it was a pot that had 'charges' and was given to them by GMs for their contributions. This is May ish time frame of this year.

Is this what Sirkin was talking about? Removed these type items because it wasn't classic?

if anyone has non classic illusion item, including pots, you should pm me their name, because as far as we know, they were all removed. yes i gave out temp non classic illusions as event rewards, and i got in trouble for it, so it stopped. i never gave out permanent race changing items. but if i had, you can rest assured, i would have gotten in trouble for it [You must be logged in to view images. this whole thing kinda reminds me of a bad father that disappears for a year at a time, shows up out of the blue and promises the world, then vanishes, forcing the mother to be the bad guy when she tells her kids that none of the shit daddy promised is actually gonna happen.

Froglock illusion pots with charges were given out as rewards for the pvp event BDA won where Xerxes was given the title "The Highlander".

Oakwynd was a Kunark era GM event reward. While Shrouds of Earthen Shadow were handed out when The Hole was released as a playable zone.Shield of Hatred was during the "Bloody Kithicor" GM event and Sceptre of Alk'Kabor was handed out in the great divide at some GM event. Not sure which, might be non-classic and from Luclin but there isn't much proof about whether or not it was. Just mentions being handed out in a Velious era zone.

Would make for interesting GM events. aka, cutthroat as all hell.

Why the need for non-classic GM event rewards?

The Realm of Heroes goes back at least until March 2001 (3 months into Velious). "Small" GM events would reward players with a coin to turn into the linked NPCs, rewards were random.. which I imagine makes it hard to duplicate here, as I doubt there's an alla entry for quest rewards. Vorshar the Despired makes it look like quest rewards were also on their loot tables, which seems silly/wrong.

Earring of the Oakwynds example of an earring my Mage received from a turn in... Nothing BiS but good stats and unique enough if quest-only for smaller, more frequent GM events (hooray!).

While everyone is staring at the forums and unable to log in, I wanted to invite a discussion. The guide illusion items were repurposed as GM event rewards for a while but eventually replaced with guises of the deceiver.

Ninik, who is one of the nicest people on the server, never gave it a second thought when her iksar egg reward from the resistance shifting armor suit event in NK was yoinked two years ago. The replacement failed to occur since she already had a guise from the actual camp.

So Nilbog and Ninik and I are looking for suggestions for a suitable alternative reward. The preferred criteria are fun and novel toys that already exist on the server.

Idea #1: Oasis of Marr: Maybe Cazel or Lockjaw has a cousin that visits & creates all kind of havoc.

Idea #2: Western Karana: Hide n Seek - maybe shrink everyone involved to make distance more + place ground spawns to find like a scavenger hunt or a hide n seek (can Gms hide from tracking?)

Idea #3: WK ^ the bertox plague as was on Live many years ago. c`mon who remembers running from those swarms? hahaha

Idea #4: Ocean of Tears, Timorous Deep or any zone: Sunken treasure to find or a hard to locate monster with rare find_01. Maybe de-spawns after an hour to reappear in another hidden part of another zone or some randomness, like the evil castle in Movie:Krull, always appearing somewhere else.

I know it would take some time, but instead of items given out to people for events; how about developing a new zone that is on the norrath maps but was never implemented and have the zone open to everyone for a day or a week that has some sort of gear set. Either random drops of items that go from cloth to raid boss mobs/epic pieces, or level appropriate for the zone. That is of course unless there's a want to implement non-classic items. I figure it would be better than just giving one person an award whom sure they'll have fun with but a new zone open to everyone where loot is a possibility for everyone, maybe a large zone with swarms or waves of mobs attacking everyone at the zone-in. Instead of a tank and spank zone, there will actually be risk for everyone levels 1-60 along with risks to large zerg guilds.
