You need 150+ CR to significantly partial non-lure nukes like ice comet, so 750 dmg nukes being corner casts do hurt a semi-stripped character.

I don't think I've seen a single Ice Comet partialed on 100 CR.

p.s as a monk you can easily get in a round or two then run out of range before the spell can land. While hes running back to the corner you can also be pelling the entire time. I'm sorry that you are just bad.
