I started playing about 2 and a half years ago and I had to visit the forums a couple of times to get it up and running but it did'n't take long and wasn't a hassle. Delete this file, move this file here etc. or something like that.

I have a friend i just got him to install the client and added the files and updates and constant error message when he right clicks and says "only start everquest" on the launcher. Works fine for me. After 4 installs, same message.
Not so simple. | ||

The fact I don't really remember starting to play tells me it was uneventful.

I had no issues but my brother did. So I ended up doing it for him.

I used Duxa's installer that was posted in the forums that basically did everything for me, including making a batch file to make sure P99 runs with only 1 CPU core.

Ran into various issues the multiple times I had to set everything up, but only due to the fact that I'm on a Mac. I am tech-savvy, though. Have helped a few people get up and running with the new patches.
An automated patch tool would help most new players out, especially ones who haven't ever ventured into their game files before, but the biggest hurdle is finding a copy of Titanium that doesn't cost 100 bucks. It was less painful when it only cost 10 dollars and was easily found.

P1999 instructions were fine, but I had to underclock my PC to play.

I had no issues getting EQ: Titanium installed onto a USB drive and I originally ran it off my work computer via USB. Then I built my own desktop, stuck Ubuntu on it, and it took me ~2hrs to get P99 operating on Linux from Titanium discs. I've reformatted/changed/reinstalled Linux a few times and now I can generally have EQ up and running within an hour of getting my video drivers straightened out. PlayonLinux is amazing.

My biggest issue was going into the EQ Emu folder and doing a file search for "Launch Titanium"
It doesn't work for me. I have to manually go through the folder. Such a subtle, but annoying "issue." You normally don't expect that sort of thing to stop you.

That right there was my biggest issue as well.
