![]() also it sounds like your looking for something an emulated server can't offer you, go pay for something if you want a server that is on a even playing field. a server that has been stuck in kunark for 4 years is not going to give you a "level" playing field.
tbh its your fault for not realizing this and not just playing elsewhere.

Anyways this is a really cool unbalanced game, it's not for most people. Your friends experienced hardship & negativity and they simply moved onto the next thing as people in this current culture tend to do. Do people like that suck? I think so, but that's just a biased opinion from someone who wears a crown of rile. I have a crown of rile.

I don't think an "even playing field" is in order. I just wanted to put my group's experience out there. I saw Loli somewhere in this thread earlier. I know of atleast 2 occasions where she broke up a group I was a part of. It doesn't seem like a big deal but when people's first experiences with PvP is (as a group) being utterly helpless to kill or hurt a single player around their level, it drives people to quit. You can say "just level up" or whatever but thats not the point. The point is this: Why would any person who tries out Red 1999 stick around when their first 20 pvp experiences went like one of the scenarios below: Killed before you had time to react. Faced a single person of the same level in a 5 or 6v1 and lost hard. Go to find refuge by a guard only to have a high level pull the guard, then get killed by someone lower level than you in just a few seconds. Killed repeatedly during a corpse retrieval. Unable to land a single spell, ever, on the guy attacking you. It leads people to think that the only way to enjoy a PvP server is to have amazing gear. Thats a huge barrier to entry. I don't know why your experience wasn't the same as mine, but this is how our collective experiences went.

The other stuff; pretty much nonsense. Remember the magic of playing eq when you would see the same bard for 2 years around level 30-45 and never make it any further? or the guys that seemed to live in unrest forever? Or the ones sitting at the bank selling stuff that never seemed to do anything else? not everyone races to the end of the game. The game would be bad if they did. They immerse themselves in the game and try to get the most out of the experience. As far as negativity and hardship; you don't know what you're talking about. Don't take a conversation from normal and sane to stupid and nonsensical. We're still talking about sitting in front of a computer. There's no such thing as hardships here. We're just talking about making something a little more fun/less frustrating for others. Thereby keeping them around.
