Quest Issue: Leatherfoot Raider Skullcap quest (2nd part) broken

This is the second time where I've handed in the preliminary skullcap with a Dragoon Dirk to receive nothing. No response from the NPC, nothing.

The first time, I handed the preliminary skullcap back in immediately after receiving it. The second time, I bought the preliminary skullcap from a merchant.

Are you 100% sure it was the skullcap from the previous cap, not the one that drops off of halflings in Nektulos Forest? I've heard of that mistake having been made a plenty.

The second one, possibly. The first one, definitely not. Handed it right back in with the dirk.
