That's not what I'm saying. I think most cops want to to good and I appreciate that, I just think most of them also get a genuine high from their authority and consequently abuse it. Most of America has the belief that cops (amongst others) are beyond reproach; this is absurd. My stepbrother is a cop in a really scuzzy city (Muskegon, Michigan) and while he seems to be a really decent guy he has also told me some horror stories about cops crossing the line. It happens a lot more than you think, just usually those who fall victim to these asshole cops have no real path of recourse.
