Half a million red plat or 2.5 TStaff's.

400k will get you about 133k on red. That really is more than enough to get a fungi and some resist items and a decent wpn to get started.

If you like it, Which you will, then just move the rest over as you need it.

If you are playing a monk you will likely want a t staff eventually and that costs about 180-200k and/or 550-600 blue.

Monk is probably the most expensive to gear out right off the bat. Could make a bard and still roll all over people for like 30k tops, your biggest expense being a T-crown.
