Your method is hurting you (edit - maybe not hurting, but costing a lot more mana per kill than necessary). Mobs take reduced damage from dots while moving (unless feared). You don't have root yet, so you need to melee those dotted mobs. Toss a slow on them if you're getting beat up too badly, but shamans melee well enough at that level.

Have you tried Blackburrow? Bandits in west Karana at 11 are also doable, if you stay away from the casters. They look like half elves
