Game won't work with a 4.9 CPU?

So I got a new computer about a month ago, and decided that I had time to play this game again, so I happily re-installed...Only to get error 1017/1018 when trying to connect to the server. Now I think I recall reading on these forums a while ago that:

1.) This game will NOT run on a computer with an overclocked processor.

2.) Overclocked or not, the game will not work with any processor higher than 4.8.

Are either of these things true? My CPU is an AMD FX-9590, for reference. Gonna be pissed off if I can't play with Velious around the corner. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Running on a 4790 at 4.6G just fine, never saw that error. Have you tried setting the clocks to stock? Or even down a tad?

I guess I could do that. Kinda sucks to pay for a black edition cpu and then have to down clock it, but maybe I'll have to. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

No the game can screw up if run on something higher then a 4ghz processor. There have been posts about it here before if you search.

Didn't help, still getting error 1017. Guess I'll have to downclock my processor if I want to play.
