Server resets occurred a LOT in classic. Granted several of those were hot-fixes that didn't bring the server down, but most did. 5-year kunark is what impacted rareness of items, not sim repops. A new server mainly needs 0 variance on raid mobs that didn't classically have it. So that getting raid mobs doesn't require having no job and starring at a wall for 16 hours. It just requires playing by the rules to get FTE and killing dragons at times you know when it will spawn so you can plan a raid around it. Rather than waking up people at 3 AM on a Tuesday. And the main thing that was a problem originally, wasn't MQing, it was selling accounts for platinum. People could wipe away their reputation and start fresh on a 50 Mage no one has ever heard of. THis was terrible for the game because being tied to your main character and the reputation of the actions you make on that character, tends to lead to people being a bit less douchey if you get ostracized for being a douche and you have to reroll completely to get people to guild/group with you again after said douchery. MQs, on 1 hand, would suck to see things rotting like Soul Leeches and Gnarled Staves because no one is present to loot it. However it would be really cool to see the winning guild offer those items up to a guild they beat out. I am skeptical that would happen and would more likely expect the inhabitants of this server to delete the item instead of offer it to another guild :/. Also... MQing is classic
