![]() Hey all,
I've noticed while playing with CPU-Z opened that my CPU is constantly changing core speed by changing the multiplier often. I've noticed when I am moving around a lot/panning camera a lot the CPU goes max but when I'm standing still it bumps back down to a lower frequency. I have every possible setting maxed (shadows is the frame-rate killer) and have good frames when the CPU is at max setting but when it downclocks it gets choppy for a few seconds. I don't think the CPU is overheating (HWMonitor shows mid-50's for the CPUs). My power settings has the CPU megged at minimum frequency 100% and max 100%. Any ideas why my CPU speed is down-clocking when system demand is lower and then upping itself when its high?

![]() This is Intel's SpeedStep setting in your BIOS. When your CPU isnt doing anything, it takes it easy. When you rev it up, it has to turn on, which is why you notice that stutter.

![]() but it saves energy!!!!!!
Yeah, you can disable that. there's a way to tell windows to keep your cpu maxed, or you can do it in the bios I imagine. Your best friend will be google on this one.
