Well, I might have gained two friends to join in with me, one a healer and the other CC, leaving me as the tank.

So for you that have been playing lately... Whats the ideal tank?

I know Warriors = Endgame raid tanks which would be nice if we were to get that far.

But how do ShadowKnights and Paladins fare up as tanks? Are they viable in a dungeon group or are you always just gonna be better off with a warrior?

If they are viable, Which do you think is better?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First of all welcome to the server! I see you asking a lot of questions about what we need and stuff like that. Play what you want to. I play a ranger because I have always played a ranger and I love it. Believe me play what you want you will always get grps and always be useful in one way or another.

What are you used to playing?

Thanks for the welcome! Glad to see people seem to still have that old EQ sense of community. Well in terms of Everquest I spent the majority of my time as a Shaman. Though in MMO's I've played a good mix of tank and support classes. So really anything goes.

I'm leanin more towards tank so Im at the Warrior, Pally, SK crossroads

Well leveling a hybrid so far has made lose my faith and start drinking again. So I have that going for me. It pretty much boils down to three things:

Shadow Knight: having a pet, dots, and harm touch
Paladin: having heals, buffs, rezz abilities later on
Warrior: being able to say to a mob "hey look at me! *OUCH* I said look!"

I'm sure I'll figure it out sooner or later[You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I think people who played this game ten years ago know that pure classes are king when it comes to groups and raids and hybrids are often left out because they don't perform as well. However a hybrid like a paladin or shadowknight can easily tank and hold their own, infact many warriors felt that shadowknights and paladins were over powered in the classic game.

So I think the low numbers on melee hybrids is because people know they will probably not be picked for a group. And the reason why the druid population is high is because they are money machines selling teleports or even powerleveling even though some will frown upon that. And they can farm giants fairly well for money.

Well I would recommend Paladin, since you seem to be equally willing to play either class and one of your main concerns is which is the most underplayed. I would definitely say Paladin.
