Nah. I dated a /b/tard in 2004 and only dabbled in it (chan, not /b/) till 2007. Found /jp/ in 2012, spent a year there and left again. Chanology was something I tangentially paid attention to but I wouldn't say I was a channer in those years either.
After the exodus I've never gone back aside from the day that cuckboy left and I wanted to tell him he was a cuck on his way out. Fullchan is just so much more efficient and more user friendly with the catalog view etc. I can do in a half hour what would take 3 or 4 hours on halfchan, its also much easier to browse on a phone.
For me it was always more of a tool to use as needed as opposed to a lifestyle to live by.
