Do the red BoTB results reflect on actual skill?

I played 3s and 2s as a mage with RMP or RM. This is EQ who gives a shit. If he wants a game built around casual even matches go back to WoW and stop shitting up this server. Typical 3rd worlder comes here and wants to change our way of life :P

Cleric BoTB ... I destroyed this BoTB simply because as a bard/enchanter played I had better pet management skills, than the other players who probably had never dealt with a pet in the past. Ought to run botb the same way they did on real eq, we got some custom rules here that didn't exist for their botbs. Just sayin.

BOTBs/duels are a better representation of "player skill" than world pvp. Positioning close enough to a zoneline to plug or batphone in cavalry isn't representative of much of anything.

Also did you cast any nukes with your Cleric in the BOTB? Be honest.

We had a no clickies rule on the VZTZ BOTBs. I can't believe they allowed them here. They should run another BOTB in 2015 when some of the players who don't have 80 hours a week to invest in emulated Everquest have caught up to the level cap.

Red Cleric BotB was FUBAR. Combatants received dragon teeth to spawn a skeleton pet, which then opened the door to combatants using Dawnfires and Undead Nukes.

Clickies were generally not allowed in the P99 BotBs unless specifically allowed in the rules that we could locate for the original BotBs back in 2000-2001.

i.e. druids could use drones of doom bracers

P99 staff made additional non-classic changes such as disallowing Blackstone Maul. Monk epic/robe clicks were allowed on the grounds that the original BotB video recap showed monks running around with the casting animation.

eq arena pvp is boring to say the least, environment is the only thing that makes it remotely fun.


Could care less about arena fights, no depth at all



gear, ping, slight amount of jousting , which R-n-G usually determines anyway


EQ pvp doesnt take "that" much skill and is based on a few factors which tip the scales greatly.

Fun , none the less, but the skill factor involved isnt huge. Esp in arena fights.
