When I finally got my Tear of Quellious from PoSky, I got down to the turn in area and spawned Wu. I had just gotten a rez for a key corpse, when during my typing out the conversation with Wu, I started to auto attack him. This occurred because I did not hit "enter" before I began to type in say. I immediately FD'd but it failed, and Wu killed me. I had to wait for the quest mob to respawn to get my Golden Sash-- not to mention eat a full exp death at 59.

I remember a long time ago I did something by mistake and a lot of people got owned on [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]. Was a 100% unintentional one time misunderstanding of a particular mechanic. Thankfully it didn't mess anything up for my guild or I would have fessed up from guilt.

I was 14 when I made my first character on Kunark live, a dark elf mage.
After half an hour of wandering around Neriak looking for the exit, I drowned in a fountain somewhere because I couldn’t figure out how to change the camera angle to swim out (mouse-look was either disabled by default or not available at this point). I ended up in Nektulos, and managed to get a rusty dagger by punching a decaying skeleton to death. I then proceeded melee my way to level 5 over several hours, wondering when I would finally get any spells. Much of this was accomplished by joining some small groups at the newbie log, as I’m pretty sure everyone just assumed I was a rogue or something since I had no robe or spells and I was still wielding this rusty dagger. Eventually I discovered that you could use merchants by right clicking (the game didn’t really make this clear at the time). Needless to say, things got a lot easier once I bought my first pet spell. All that rusty dagger business must have really left an impression on me though, because after playing the mage to 56 I ended up re-rolling as a gnome rogue (I was mostly interested in the hilarious ramifications of the gnome plate helm graphic making you look like a ninja).

When I first started playing EQ, in 1999, I was a kid and didn't know what I was doing. Back then you could allow someone else to not only drag your corpse, but also to loot it. Another newbie died (from guards in town, I think they were KoS) and asked me to loot their corpse and bring the contents to them. I looted the corpse, with every intention to bring it to them. They were a few zones away, sending me tells. I was replying to them in /ooc, not knowing how to use tells at that point (and thinking for some reason that ooc had a few zones distance). After about 10 or 15 minutes I think they thought I was trying to steal everything, and logged off. It wasn't anything special, a few pieces of cloth armor and a small bag, but I still felt really bad about it.
On that same character, a Human Warrior, at level 5, I died in East Commonlands to a snake of some sort that poisoned me and soundly defeated me. I came back but couldn't find my corpse. Gave up looking after twenty or thirty minutes, and rolled a Half-Elf Bard.

It is pretty interesting to see the replies here. A lot of people seem to have suffered from the 'couldn't find my corpse, so i rerolled' syndrome.
My first character was a halfling druid named Naennil that took me probably 2 weeks to level up to level 4. I had a very terrible graphics card and dial up internet, and I basically had to fight right next to guards because if something ran I was hopeless to catch it. I was killing a snake of some sort in Misty Thicket and it turned it's tail and fled. I tried to follow it but it quickly outpaced me due to my terrible setup. Next thing I know I'm dead and zoning back into Misty Thicket. Cue me trying to find my corpse for hours. Couldn't find it - devastating because I had had some gold, spells, and some bags. I rerolled into another halfling druid - Amaruq, who became my main for some time. I figured it would be better to start off naked at level 1 rather than be naked at level 4. child logic is hard.

Looks like we were all just a bunch of dumb kids.
Glad we all matured in to such fine neckbeards.

Iactually started playing on red really frequently, about 7-8 months ago. It was really cool at first. Fast XP, people giving out free loot all over the place.. Really seemed alright. Got to 51 on my druid in no time and realized what a mistake I made, began seeing what a bunch of shitbags the FFA pvp element attracts and have since deleted the lv51 druid and gone back to blue. It became readily apparent that the 2-400 plat worth of coin/items people like to give out to newbies really isn't worth it when you consider the endless hours of grief you are setting yourself up for. Thoise individuals aren't giving you gear becuase they're nice, they're trying to convince you to stay so they can log into their in range characters and kill you once you start getting into UNrest/Mistmoore range and so on, so forth. I literally spent 90% of my time Watching timers of/reapplying and medding for Buffs so I'd have some sort of an advantage against all the assholes in full best-in-slot while naked on the third/fourth consecutive corpse run (CR 3-4 taking place before I ever finished CR1. This is a special breed of neckbeard, they care only for Yellow Text, they dont care if you're naked, oom or at 10% HP when approached). Even something as painstakingly mindnumbing as the ORDER in which your buffs are applied is crucial because if SoW is first on your list it's the first to be dispelled, whereas if that shitty buff you get and dont really use is first.. well, you get it. PNP is a joke, LNS does nothing but shaft you; the population is so low that if you get pk'd in the zone you intend to group in and you then have to call LNS to avoid harassment, you've effectively killed what is likely your only chance for solid group xp. ANd the four level level range cap while intended to help really only hinders. Can't tell you how many times I've been ina group of genuine new people, when some asshole in a FUNGI comes up and starts pwning on the only person who is in range. This could be remedied if they added flagging whereby say healing the target off the assailant, or just by casting a nuke on someone higher level than yourself you would be able to join the fight, but ass is it is just a shitty broken clusterfuck. Not just any clusterfuck though, a clusterfuck of neckbeards too quick quick to laugh at the bluebies lusting over pixels, though none will ever admit they are playing the same game for the same reason, they just like the feeling of being tougher than somebody else they get by being able to take fight in virtual fistfights.
