wrong. sirken actually encourages players to set up unsuspecting individuals for massive plat gains. while in the play nice policy not to scam someone, the gm's actually allow this general fraud. that said, only ever do trades and purchases on low level bank alts in safe towns near guards/NPCs.
Wouldn't getting items and plat to and from the low level alt require doing an equal amount of trades on the main character? I am still pretty much naked and am kinda scared to start doing actual trading on red lol.

this guide has all the information that you will ever need, in game and in real life:

E.B.K. BLUUHD's guide to playing a Dark Elf Shadow Knight on the PvP server

I read the guide really quickly and can atest to this:

if someone tries to give you "free" stuff, DO NOT ACCEPT IT because they will come back for you later, nothing is free both in mmorpgs and in real life. and if that person that gave you "free" stuff has friends, him and his friends will go after you because they will feel like you owe them something. NEVER ACCEPT ANYTHING FROM ANYONE WITHOUT PAYING FOR IT, NOTHING IS FREE. If you get something from someone without paying up front, that person or him and his friends will come back for you. you don't get something for nothing. if someone tries to give you "free" stuff, reject it and put them on ignore.

Some dude quit the game and gave all his shit away and I got some of it and people never let it go, and it some how turned in to something about how I was "just" holding it for him for when he was coming back and eventually he did come back ( like 2 weeks later ) and asked nicely for a bit of it back which I didn't give it to him (probably a mistake due to the toxicity of the community wanting to jump on anything) but was a real fuck around blah blah blah *insert red drama here*.

I wish I never accepted it from him, or just gave every bit of that dirty tainted gear back to him when he returned.

I asked about for him since i quit recently and was gunna dump 20 oddk of gear and plat in his trade window but no one knows where he is now.

But it is true: DO NOT ACCEPT ANYTHING it A) makes others jealous, B) THEY WILL COME BACK FOR IT!! C) haters will hate on you for ur free gains.... it will cause you trouble.

if some of you smarter PvPers did get together and put together a red99 guide for new players, i think it would really help keep some of the people that try red as well as maybe getting more people to try the server that normally wouldnt have

specifically the differences between blue and red. resist gear, the potions, the clickies, the buddy system, basketball, etc

Lite made a good Youtube video a long time ago that went over basics like pumice, potions, inventory management, buff order, cheap clickies, etc.

That wasn't a bug though. It is just an inconvenient feature of the game.

You musta been playing way way late live to see that change, I have never even heard of it.

But yeah Kergan is right on. Mage is tuff for PVP because it is so easy to root the pet and then you have no CC spells and...zone hopping. It is a good class but overall not a top pick unless you are bum rushing to level 50 at the start of a server with a team of mages just destroying PVE.

A totally non classic thing that P99 did for some aweful reason to make mage a truly painful class is the pet EXP nerf, where the pet robs 50% of exp if it does more than 50% of damage to mob. This goes away in any group. So you can't chain cast pets anymore for exp which makes mages even worse.

Still a great class though... but far from my personal top choice.
It happened in Luclin with the introduction of beastlord pets zoning. Wasn't really the same thing as you still had to buff their level back up. I think by PoP it went in fully, maybe the xpac after that (GoD?). Not sure, I quit after PoP.

I doubt it was ever a desired outcome to have pets poof upon zoning, more of a coding/development time restriction. Doubt we'll ever know unless some dev commented on it at some point. Fact is they eventually changed it because they thought it was lame as did most players I imagine. The pet classes are tuned around a pet so it isn't a balance issue. If pets zoned here it would make mages a lot more viable (all pet classes really).
