Just being an asshole or writing a passionate post doesn't make you Bi-polar. It's just like hte other day I was reading about ADHD and the ADHD expert in the article said something like "Everybody has problems every so oftne wiht attention, but..."

Hyperfocusing on stimulating or compelling activities isn't unique to ADHD. I think a good bit of this we're supposed to leanr when we're kids. For example, acting out and being an a***** isn't conducive to getting homework done or making friends. Some kids don't learn and I think they tend to have these mental disorders.

I think a good lot of prisoners also have mental disorders. Imagine in the future they might think our prison system was savage because it was torturing people with mental disorders.

Psychopaths are unable to show empathy toward others because their brains aren't wired to do so, according to a new study in JAMA Psychiatry.

Researchers from the University of Chicago used brain imaging technology to find that psychopaths have less activation in certain parts of the brain and high activation in other parts of the brain, compared with people who are not psychopaths, in response to scenarios of people being purposely hurt.

"This is the first time that neural processes associated with empathic processing have been directly examined in individuals with psychopathy, especially in response to the perception of other people in pain or distress," study researcher Jean Decety, a professor of psychiatry and psychology at the University of Chicago, said in a statement.

In the past, British researchers found that psychopaths actually have differences in their brain structure, compared with people who aren't psychopaths. A study published last year in the journal Archives of General Psychiatry and conducted on violent criminals in Britain showed that psychopaths have less gray matter in the anterior rostral prefrontal cortex brain region, Reuters reported.

Tamara Gurvits and colleagues studied 21 adult women who were sexually abused as children, and 38 veterans of the Vietnam War. Each group contained subjects with and without symptoms of PTSD. When the researchers performed neuro-logical and psychological tests on their subjects, they found that "subjects with PTSD reported more neurodevelopmental problems and more childhood attention deficit hyperactivity disorder symptoms and had lower IQs, all of which were significantly correlated with neurologic soft signs." These results remained true after the researchers accounted for alcoholism or head injury.

The researchers say their find-ings do not negate the validity of post-traumatic stress disorder as a diagnostic entity, noting that "in the veterans, the correlation of combat exposure with PTSD symptoms was high." They theorize, rather, that "a diminish hed ability to cope with a traumatic event and its consequences owing to lower intelligence may increase the likelihood of the PTSD outcome." They note, too, that neurologic soft signs are associated with a variety of psychiatric disorders, ranging from s schizophrenia to obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Totally. For instance ordinary people don't do well when they miss some sleep; that's universal. What's bipolar is when, instead of making you tired, getting bad sleep actually gives you insomnia (because it makes you more manic). Or like, normal people become bigger jerks when they're tired, but they don't get in to a state of mind where they spend money, drive fast, argue over stuff they'd never normally argue over, etc.

It's kind of like seeing an alcoholic have a few drinks. For any normal person having a few drinks isn't a sign of anything, but when you see an alcoholic drinking you know they're having a relapse. Similarly with me when I see myself write a flame post I've learned it's a sign that something is going wrong in my brain's chemistry, but like you said someone else could write a flame post and that's just them being their normal selves.
