easy solution i've found, log in during non peak hours, never log off and stay in the same zone.

Yep. After the latest patches this has been happening to me after 5pm EST. Wasn't an issue before the patches. Probably going to uninstall and take a break from the game since it's not any fun perpetually closing the client to attempt a relog.

I agree with the comments on this page. I've been having similar issues the week of Dec 15, 2014 with no modifications on my client's side.

I too run XP on a "vintage EQ" comp (circa 2001). Bump for the other purists/cheapskates.

I almost wonder.....

My situation like most others comes from inferior ISP's. The ISP is the trigger, but the cliet is the code that permanently locks the game up. Could it possibly be something with the server host company in there network settings. Maybe they have a program running that cuts off poor connections? Constant cutting would lead to constant character select failures. Loggingin and server selecting I believe is all routing and minor communications. But character selection starts the downloading of data. (as far as i know). I do p99 has moved data centers, and at that point connectivity issues became a problem for myself and others. ( as far as i remember lol)

Keep "greying out" when I zone which has never been an issue before a few days ago, have amazing ISP and computer

lag, drop loading, empty char screen, empty server screen, errors connecting, 300+ ping.......

Also getting blank server select and freeze after zoning or character select freeze. Looks like you have to stay logged in and not zone anywhere just to play. Any level 1-60 zones?...

Edit: This only happens during the hours of 8pm - 2am PST, definitely has to be the servers problem

I'd say that I crash on zone loading with a 1 in 5 chance. Normally I can reload and everything is fine. Today I'm getting the blank server list. I tried waiting a few minutes. I tried quick connecting, but the quick connect says it can't find the blue server... even though the website says there are still 500 people on it.

I'm considering requesting an IP exemption. You know, for science.
