I respectfully disagree! Jade maces are cool, but they even uglier than lammies. Plus them stats! +12 str means you'll be hitting harder, and +12 sta & 40 hp is a nice chunk of health.

Rangers on here hardly EVER use Lammies other than to skill up with. It is two handers all the way. A Swiftblade till level 20 then the cheap Ranger only two handers till Epics.

Yeah Monks are tough to play till FD. Keep at it. Like has been said stick with it.

It takes some time. I had a similar problem. [..] You'll probably want to quit by your 20s, but stick it out and you'll get back to enjoying this fantastic game very soon.
I'd say this sums it up.

I started about 3-4 chars here before I chose a main. The reason why my main made 55 was because I kept coming back to em; there was some staying value in being a druid because all the right incentives were in place (money groups soloability etc.) So even if it does end up taking more or less time because of an xp penalty gearing soloability etc. pick something you think you'd like to play or continue playing after a hiatus. Don't be afraid to spend your training points on mend after you put one point into new skills. Mend is a bitch to skill up to begin with otherwise. Also you should have no problem soloing wisps in NK with that gear. Turn the lightstones in to Myrsilia at the camp for 2% exp and the greater lightstones in for 4% exp. Sell the books back to her for good plat. You'll be 17 in no time and get FD and then soloing gets way easier because you have a panic button. I soloed an untwinked monk to 35 and could keep going with it, but other alts call me. Soloing a monk really isn't that difficult as long as you know your limits and where to go.

you have all you need to succeed, just practice

get that bind wound, FD, sneak all up ->

make sure you are reading the wiki on the class as well, there are still a lot of monks that don't kill their auto before FD

Unless you're getting PL'd I don't see the need to spend points in Mend, I would max it out naturally as I levelled along in FoB and Kurn's. Just click it every time it's up, and once you get it to 50+ you can start saving it for when you need it (and pray it doesn't fail).

6 minute cool down makes it take a long time to cap. I really don't see any other skill a monk has that I'd rather spend the points on, except maybe bind wound, but by the time you want to spend the points to cap that, you're at 51 and just want to get it to 201 for the 70%, and you should have plenty of points for that if you've been using bind wound on a regular basis the entire time.

I guess you're right that there's nothing better to spend points on.... but as a matter of principle I can't help saving them [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

For me though, I just capped it naturally, particularly during the long teens grind.

Yeah I'd say that Mend and FD are the two things you'll want to dump the most points into as a Monk. Mend because it will raise so slowly on its own, and FD because you want to get it to a (somewhat) reliable skill level as fast as possible!
