Druid is a solid choice. Healers tend to be in short supply while leveling up and druids can solo pretty well when groups aren't available. Tanks often times are the next-most rare (Rogues are abundant so DPS roles are usually covered. I've been the tank in 90% of the groups I've been in on my ranger and the times when I wasn't the tank... it was another ranger doing it) Ports also make it easy to get money to jump-start other characters.
Druid DOTs should be interesting once dispel gets reworked for PVP, since it won't be as easy for people to remove them.
