This worked for me. My dog has medium length hair. I shaved her, which she hated of course. For some reason dogs dont like electric motors with blades strapped on to them.
I used real Dawn. the blue stuff. Then i febreeze her and then gave her another Dawn bath. It worked for me. Now dont like soak your dog in febreeze like you do when your trying to avoid washing a blanket or something. Just lightly mist everything but her head.
If you must mist her head be careful of her eyes and nose. I recommend taping them shut with duct tape. If you dont wanna do that or are a peta member, spray a paper towel with it pretty good and scrub her head like a 4 day old dirty pan.

Also i hope you like the little bit of humor. I have never taped my dogs eyes or nose shut. But i did do this method and it worked pretty damn good

Our dogs have decently long hair but it only took two washes to clean the dog that was sprayed directly. We had to use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and Dawn. Then for all my stinky ass clothes we used Tide Sport along a few ounces of natures miracle skunk odor remover. Shit came right out. Our room specifically got the absolute worst of it since the house is raised and the dogs trapped the bastard under us directly.

Today I climb underneath to try and get that shit gone for good.

They have a dog door and skunks aren't too common around us. Last time I had a skunk stink my shit up I was in Junior High.

I dunno if it works for the same for skunks (or dogs). However when I got decomp smell on me. I took a REALLY hot shower. Scrubbed down with lemon juice to open up the pores really wide, and then dumped tomato juice into them. I still smelled, but not nearly as bad.

Its because a good bag of weed when you smell it gonna make you pull your head back outta the bag and say "fuck". Thats basically what a skunk smell is. But yeah riding with people pass a dead skunk i take a nice deep breathe while everyone else is holding their nose lol.

I take my beagle out on a leash at night because I know we have a few skunks that hang out. I walked out the front door and heard something in the bush. Pointed the flashlight and the skunk was there. It then walked up onto my front porch. I was yelling at it but it would not go. I waited about 10 min and it finally left, with my beagle baying at it the entire time.

Another night my dog was about 5 feet from it, literally. The skunk did not even raise its tail. I moved back slow and waited for it to go away. I think they are used to humans but I think the cats fuck with them because I smell the spray some nights.

No joke! Skunk ass hole must smell amazing to dogs. Considering how my dog acts around every other animal, that is what he was going for when he got skunked...

It is funny that this thread came up because last night I let the dog in and he went up stairs for bed. About 2 minutes after I let the dog in I could smell skunk. A minute or so later, the dog came running down the stairs with his tale between his legs and he was shaking. Maybe the dog got the point after being sprayed in the eyes last time...
