And if you want to get more complex, you have nuclear/thermal generators, which use thermal energy to create kinetic energy via steam to power turbines (electromagnetic induction) to create electrical energy... At no point is static electricity used in the process... It's ok though, keep planting them lightning rods and flying them kites, please ensure you are using copper wires and are holding the reel at the other end when flying the kite into a thunderstorm...
