What's with huskies/malamutes and their desire to push everything into the ground?? My old dog Shadow would push balls into the snow all of the time just like that.

It's an adaption of an instinctive canine behaviour for hunting small mammals etc that are hiding in tunnels under the snow (like lemmings and stuff).
