Default I have a question about skills ( dex, str, etc ).

I'm curious. When playing a class , monk for example, what does dexterity and agility do? I've read Agility helps you not get hit , while Dexterity can affect how often you hit something. Is any of this true?

I just feel like I hardly ever hit the mob I'm attacking with my monk and I wanted to know if me not having any dex gear would be the reason why.

hmmm I think Str plays a bigger part if you in hand2hand type combat.

Dex is for proccing & ranged attacks (if I'm recycling this info properly, lol)

Rogues should never build any dex gear or put any points into it as it has no bearing on your hit rate. They build to 255 STR and get their ATK as high as possible for the best dps.

Not sure about monks, proccing weapons etc so you'll want some for tanking I guess [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Yeah you'll still miss quite a bit at that point. At around 30 you start getting a lot more consistent.

Default mob level

Level has a huge effect on how often you make contact. If you are fighting white, yellow or red conning mobs then you will miss a lot more than something a few levels lower than you. attack rating vs ac.

Dexterity improves the rate of both melee and ranged weapon skill increases (1HS, 2HB, Bows, etc), the rate of rogue skill increases, the rate that weapons will fire their on-swing special effects (this is know as proccing), and your damage with ranged attacks.

Agility provides a (very minor) AC boost, and improves the rate that monk skills and defensive combat skills (Defense, Dodge, etc.) will increase.

For a monk, neither are important. Strength will increase your maximum swing damage and it will also cause you to hit for closer to your maximum swing damage more often. Strength also improves the rate that offensive combat skills (Offense, Double Attack, etc) will increase, and it also improves how much you can carry before becoming encumbered.

Your chance to hit is simply a factor of your Character Level, Offense, and Weapon skills vs. your target's Level, (AC?), and Defensive skills.

Not really for monks. They should never be anywhere close to encumbered.

But other than that, of course strength is important. STA, HP, AC, and Resists are also important for when you have to tank and when you have to pull. Dex and Agi are basically worthless because you get such a marginal gain out of them.
