I agree, I hate being forced to quest. There should be a reason to quest (specific item) that makes sense in the lore. I am even ok with quests as a tool to get people to go to new areas or first time in a dungeon etc , but entire leveling experience being dominated by wow style quests sucks. I can't think of a "fun" quest format that has come out either. Nothing more fun that finding a corner of a dungeon with a group of pals and grinding out a few levels without feeling like you gotta run all over the place to gather xyz.

Well, going to an exp camp and grinding it out isn't even possible in a lot of modern MMOs with instanced dungeons. You kill shit and its gone never to appear again until you restart the dungeon. Moving through dungeons and restarting them is just different too...removes the pulling/splitting type dynamics that EQ has.

Will warn you. You will spend like 90% of the beta trying to level up using WoW style quests unless they start you at a certain level. Crafting takes a long time unless you have a ton of palls all pooling resources and already know everything.
You can't sign up for "arenas" until lvl 40

They should just let you skip to level 40 if you provide evidence of a max level WoW character, since they basically make you play WoW until 40 it sounds like.

I agree. MAybe they will. I haven't played a beta only the alpha which is a steady state server and only to lvl 20 so far. Getting bored of questing by myself.
Honestly I'm curious how I'm going to exp post lvl 30

Quest quest quest. When you get to minable areas, stay there for a few hours, get as much Iron and Stone as you can. SAVE all your quest reward items (Green and above). Spend ZERO Labor Points. When you are level 20-25, Start smelting all your ore to bars. Buy a bunch of Evenstones. Start 'disenchanting' all of your quest stuff till you have a few Moonlight dusts. Buy 3xDust of Shatigon Wedges. Craft as many Apprentice's Quake Vambraces as you can. Use the Evenstones to break it down, each one should give you back the Moonlight Dust. And you do this quite a few times and go from 20 to 30 if you have enough Iron Ore. Can go even higher if you spend a few points on the 100% bonus to Crafting EXP potion. And all it costs is the price of 3x Wedges and the Evenstones to break down the items. Which is virtually free when you consider the quest rewards. Its not the BEST way, but its a great way to 'powerlevel' a few. Additionally, NEVER open the coinpurses, waste of labor. Also, plant 8hr trees before you log off, log back on get ton of exp from harvesting.

This is good stuff. Opened probably 100 coinpurse and sold all my green shit.
Can't plan tree cause all of the farming plots are taken? Probably only seen 6 iron ore, mined them all. I really just wanted to try the PVP in this game but i guess I have to farmville/world of warcraft to max level before I Can which is not very exciting of a prospect. I don't like how games do this.
