They are removing the ability to permanently save VoDs, so say goodbye to the archive of Sirken's videos on Twitch.

Or the archive of speedrunning videos, any highlights with music in them, etc.
oh the horror, the injustice!

If I have some music at a low volume playing that isn't direct from the internet, does that count? It should, but I wonder if the "technology" would pick it up.

Doubtful. You can pitch-shift songs by like 0.05%, and to the human ear it sounds exactly the same, but the program analyzing the waveform will have no clue what it is. This is how we bypassed the listener on turntable.fm. (RIP turntable.fm)

I'll bet the air it has to pass through and what your microphone does to the waveform will probably be enough to bypass it. Maybe folks can just start adding little whitenoise filters to things in frequency ranges that humans can't hear, but it would still fuck up the listener's ability to ID the song?

it depends if the owners of the music have it registered with AudioMagic. if u want to test, try uploading to youtube, its the same content ID system.
