Game Mechanics: Boat

I thought I read they were fixed but maybe it hasn't gone in yet.

I was just on the boat heading to FP, sitting at the last OOT dock before the zone into FP. While at the docks got basically T-boned, or Y-boned, by the other boat. Somehow warped through. When zoning into FP I loaded a good 30sec-1min before the boat did (so I was in the water).

Just curious, why don't the dual boats follow the path they did in classic?
