I'd continue on the drizzt line if you want to keep reading forgotten realms books.

Id also recommend the cycle of night series by Paul s. kemp if you're in the mood for something a little darker but still in the forgotten realms.

Avatar series is just ok but has good background for the rest of forgotten realms books

Recently asked my RL bro for a good introductory fantasy book series to read and he recommended the first 3 books of "Forgotten Realms". As I'm about to finish the 3rd book today, I was wondering if any of you nerds have some good recommendations next for me to read? Go on to the 4th book in the series or switch to something else? Let me hear it, poindexters.
Dragonlance.

I have many concerns with even your ability to read a book, much less a series of books with 25000 total pages. Opinion rejected! Buzz off.
hohoho coach goes hard on these nerds these days

The first 6-9 forgotten realm books by R.A. Salvatore are enjoyable reads. He played EverQuest back in the day and the books / world has a very EQ feel to it.

The Dragonlance series mentioned is also pretty good. If you want that 'pure fantasy' feel they are both good choices.

If you're an avid or experienced reader then you may enjoy some of Guy Gavriel Kay's work more. He has several stand alone historical fiction-esq fantasy novels set in the same Universe and then a high fantasy series called "The Fionavar Tapestry".

Must reads:

1. The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
This is an excellent suggestion and a fantastic book, but the series is a long way from finishing so I don't generally suggest it.

The Wheel of Time series I'm so conflicted on because while it is massive and an incredible universe, the Robert's writing is pretty frustrating especially for slower readers. I just think there are better options before tackling it.

The Name of the Wind is very good if you want a smartass'ier version of Harry Potter.

Then again Kvothe is a name almost as bad as Drizzt.

Stop naming your fantasy characters really dumb names, guys.

I started Brandon Sanderson's "The Way of the Kings" last night and I made it like 10 pages but it just seems so overly verbose. And the hero was turning the rooms upside down and melting faces with his shardsword, so the fight scenes were annoying me.

I'm going to keep giving it a shot but if it stays this way I'm going to chuck it (no pun intended). Keep giving me some ideas, might check out dragonlance or w/e.

Nice gif Zade
