It is not dangerous.
It was not just installed in the last update. It's been part of the game for ages (since 2011, I think).
It does not make your system insecure.
It certainly does not turn your system into a brick.

However, tin foil hats supplied separately.
If it's been there so long why did my antivirus catch it today?

Lets see, some possibilities, you have a terrible AV, AV programs arn't people and are just looking for patterns, they get false positives all the time. Monitoring memory addresses is a signature of a virus but also something non-dangerous programs can do as well. And the fact that you think you can brick a computer by messing with the system folder(does this even access the system folder?) shows you don't really know what you're talking about anyway.

I'm not the OP....

I don't agree with OP at all but I disagree with your assessments.

Your AV changed.
Nah same AV.

Not accusing the devs of any wrong doing, just wondering why it popped up today and not before (I just installed p99 about a week ago which probably contributes to it. First update since installing is probably why?)

Sorry wasn't paying attention.

The general statement that it's doing things similar to what you'd expect a virus is true though. The encryption on the file also throws them off too.

Your AV gets new signatures data all the time. Its this data that controls what gets alerted on.

You don't have to change which program you're running for your AV to "change." New updates for AV programs' dictionaries are typically downloaded weekly, or even daily, depending on the software and which settings you've selected. It's possible that some one reported the file as a potential virus/malicious software for one reason or another, and your AV software added the file/signature to its database today (or at any time after the last check was run).

Oh absolutely. The way OP was talking I had assumed this was an issue for a huge part of the player base and was wondering why it triggered the same day OP posted this. Could just be a coincidence of course.
