In Diablo 1 you would drop the item on the ground, walk away from it, walk toward it and right as you picked it up you would pick up one of your potions from your belt. I'm pretty sure you do the same thing here
Yea this is how you do it here

I know of one way that would dupe stackable items early on (not that many months after EQ went live). Was almost banned, but they let me keep playing because they couldn't figure out how we were duping and said that if we told them so they could fix it, we could keep playing.

You needed to have a partner to do this with.

Both people needed to arrange their inventory so that there weren't any empty spots.

One person would open a trade window with the other person and put a bunch of stuff in the 8 trade spots (1 or 2 food or water was usual), the stackable item that you wanted duped had to be in a specific slot (either first or last, I forget which, I think first) and the other player must not have room for the item in their inventory (so put 2 water or food in every other inventory slot to fill them up)

Then you needed to coordinate timing. the following had to be done at pretty much the same time:
1) trader hits trade button to complete trade, then pulls his LAN cable to go LD
2) recipient presses cancel button

If the timing was done right, the junk falls to the ground, and the item that you wished duped, turned into a stack of 255 of that item. We got shit piles of platinum bars and gems that way. So could have pretty much endless money.

Those were the good old days

EDIT: I'm talking about real EQ 15 years ago, not the emulator

Wait until you see "Yourname has been saved" transfer all your items to a buddy, pull your internet, log back in to character select then delete your toon. /petition that you accidentally deleted your toon and... profit?

my favorite tho, find a merchant with 1 slot left, destroy the item you want but leave the yes/no box up, put destroy item ui box yes button right on top of the sell button on the merchant ui and click real fast. the item sells to the merchant and stays in your inventory without being destroyed.

Actually this thread has triggered one of only a handful of EQ Live memories I still have: One night, I realized that the [Toolboxes] I was making to level up my smithing were actually selling for something like 2-3 plat more than the ingredients. That night, me and my buddy made over 100 toolboxes, had around 400 plat and thought we were SO RICH.

The next week, when I made another batch of toolboxes, the vendor price had been fixed and they were no longer turning a profit. Shortly after that, my mom stopped paying for EQ. I don't even think I ever got to spend my riches. qq.

week 1 of EQ I brought bags full of sharpening stones from freeport to kelthin, becuse they didnt sell them there. Advertised them as the best way to upgrade turning rusty weps into tarnished items.. I think like the delay dropped like 2 points or something stupid.

I made like nothing and realized I was a horrible entrepreneur in both real life and fake life.

I'm sure this is exactly what GMs want players talking about in server chat.
