I used to get in in wolf form. Put nose in top right hole, and wiggle until you reach your desire. The size of the nose does not matter.

What's interesting about this post is that on EQL as an agnostic erudite I automatically had enough faction that I was able to buy a key on my own. Not so with P1999.

I didn't use the key that often though since I didn't want to carry it around and I recall it being fairly easy to just squeeze in the rocks.
