Because the people running the server have stated their intention that casual and hardcore raiding should both be viable options on this server. They have put this system in place to achieve that end. That's reason enough.

[CRs and guild Kills it's boss mob, great sense of accomplishment on a tough won fight]

"Wow, I'm having so much fun playing my favorite video game and not hurting anyone."
