well its too late now, but if i wasnt so comfortable i would have just gone downstairs and enabled telnet. i was wondering is there a way to brute-force open a port or something over a network when all the ports are closed. they say windowsXP is insecure, but i couldnt find a way to penetrate the system.
mostly im just interested in learning more about how this type of stuff is done. it it a requirement that one must install a vulnerability on the machine in order to exploit, or are there any practices that come with fresh install?
